Avoid the One Way Link Building Method That Will Get Your Niche Site Deindexed (Latest Google Slap!)
Have you noticed a significant drop of Google search traffic to your blog after March 19th 2012? One of my niche sites did. See below
One of the main goals I have for a niche site is to get it ranked on the first page of Google for the main keyword. People use various one way link building methods to rank higher and higher, in Google. It’s a tough battle to win, especially if you are in a competitive niche. After all, the difference between the 1st and 10th position can cost you a few hundred thousand dollars for a profitable niche!
Latest Google Slap – One way link building methods from blog networks
Blog networks are a collection of blogs which form a private network. This can be paid or unpaid backlinks. Most of these blog networks exist for the purpose of building linking and it’s a backlinking technique that’s quick and easy. But no no, Google does not want quick, easy paid backlinks
Some of the popular blog networks were de-indexed by Google recently are Build My Rank, Linkvana, Article Marketing Automation etc
If you have used these services in the past, these one way link building methods will no longer be valid and you will lose these backlinks. As a result, you will notice a decrease in your overall Google ranking.
At the moment, other blog networks are deemed “safe” under Google eyes. But you never know. When Google has their mind set and know what they don’t want in their search index, they find a way to weed out what they don’t want!
Google’s reinforce March 2012
Google keeps sending us one wave after another. First came Google Panda and now this backlinking de-index is the latest Google slap! Just when you think you can forget the Google index, Google keeps reminding us, all over again.
I’ve been asking myself, “Why is Google doing this?” After all, Google also gains a fair share of revenue when niche sites are doing well. What are your thoughts on this? (Leave a comment below and let me know)
Google seems to have an attitude of “Publish good quality content and we will do the rest”! But the “playing field” isn’t leveled yet and this approach doesn’t work always since there are still some underground link buying.
What I know for sure is, they are on a mission to hunt down “unnatural” links. When they find a pattern than can be “algorithmized” it will be implemented!
What to do next: Getting “Google Like” one way link building methods
Don’t use paid blog networks as part of your link building technique!
Gone are the good old days where we could put together a few niche sites with low quality sites and use “auto” backlinking techniques.
Promote your niche site through “natural” and ethical one way link building methods.
As far as I know, there is no way to plead “special” cases with Google. Once you are out, you are out buried and forgotten. So, if at all, you feel like experimenting with a particular backlinking technique, DON’T do it with your MAIN blog/niche site.
Focus more on on-page SEO
Keyword in the heading, acceptable keyword density, exact placement of the main keyword and more… All those basic SEO blog post optimizations needs to be done.
I use the WordPress Plugin SEOPressor to do all these for me.
Once I chose a keyword, I just have to enter it to the SEOPressor box. Then write the blog post, add related tags and save the post as a draft. Then the SEOPressor plugin will show me the “score”. If it’s green then I’m good to go. If the post is not properly optimized, the score will be low and indicated in red and give you suggestions on ways to increase the score.
So the SEOPressor plugin is like an SEO expert looking over your shoulder, cleverly pointing out how you can optimize your blog post so that the content can rank high and get more Google search traffic.

Get Google plus authority!
Google services have “merged” and they now seem to be a growing happy family!
Google loves recommendations from fellow Googlers
So the Google+ button “acts” as a more reliable vote than a “high authority” link.
I don’t see this as a SEO tactic but rather a way to add more “authenticity” to your site content.
Here’s the step by step guide I wrote on how to add Google authorship to your site, if you haven’t done so already.
Stay on the path of quality content, “natural” backlinks
To a certain extent if your niche site has quality content, there is a better chance for others to link to your niche site naturally… Additionally, social links will come more easily when you have a great niche site content.
It’s not easy, it’s a hell of a lot of work if you do everything yourself.
If you try to “game the game” and deceive Google, there will be harsh consequences. It may not be today, but Google is smart and will catch up eventually and bury you deep.
What one way link building methods do you use for niche sites?
Did you have any sites that got affected due to the recent de-indexing by Google?
